Microsoft is known to nag users to promote their products. Earlier it used to show Windows 10 update notification to Windows 7 and Windows 8 users and now Microsoft is trying to promote its new chromium-based browser named Edge through a similar technique.
A technology website named Windows Latest has reported that they have encountered a Microsoft Edge ad in the windows 10's built-in search panel. The ad is displayed as a recommendation when you search for some specific keywords. In their search, they have found that the edge recommendation only appears when you search for three keywords: Google Chrome, Firefox, and Opera. But If you have Edge installed in your machine then the ad disappears. Their team however couldn't generate the same results for other 3rd party browsers like Brave and Vivaldi.
Now from this it is obvious that Microsoft is targeting the upper ranking browsers. And why won't they do that while google pushes Chrome ads in almost all of their services when you access them via Microsoft Edge.

Now it is important to note that this ad is not intrusive like Microsoft's other promotional pushes. It only appears in the search panel when you search for those three browsers. As you can see in the image the ad appears in two places. On the left, you can see a recommendation by the search panel and on the right side the recommendation is shown by Bing search.
For those who are living under the rock! Microsoft has released a new Chromium-based browser replacing the older edge HTML one. The name remains the same but the logo as you can see in the image has changed a little.
If I add my personal opinion, I would say that this new Chromium-based browser is really on par with Google Chrome. I have ditched chrome after like 2-3 days of age use. The good part is the new Edge even though powered by the same Chromium as Chrome, but it is less ram hungry and the app startup is also better. Microsoft is continuing to improve as I write this article, so I am hopeful that the new Edge browser will improve further.
